I think what everyone needs to remember is that this forum didn't just spontaneously appear. Brett was the one who stepped up and (on his own time and dime) created this forum that we all enjoy. More importantly, it's his passion for the hobby that keeps him maintaining and moderating this site - all in his free time and without compensation, I might add. That said, Brett doesn't have to do this - remember that at any time, he can take the proverbial ball and go home. And I'm sure that all of us would agree that taking this forum off the web benefits nobody.

So for those of you who don't agree how this forum is run, you have a couple of choices. You can either: 1) chill; 2) stop posting here, or; 3) create your own glove forum where you can decide on the rules. Choice 1 is obviously preferable, but if you do decide to create your own forum, you'll be surprised how quickly it'll deteriorate into a juvenile, name-calling, locker room. Hey, if that's your thing, then great, have at it - but your place isn't here. That's not what this forum is about.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but people haven't been posting as much lately. I'll go out on a limb and guess that the constant bickering and unnecessary name-calling somehow figures into it. Too much time has been spent discussing what, in the adult world, should've been a non-issue. Let's get back to discussing gloves.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. I think this thread has run it's course. I try to be fair in my moderating and hold everyone to the same standard. Unfortunately, in a group of over 500 now, not everyone is going to agree with what you do. I totally accept that and have no issue with people calling me out if they feel that way. It would be nice to do it via email or through PM's, but here is fine as well. You are all always welcome to contact me concerning an issue you have with the way I run things. I may or may not agree with you but I will certainly listen.

In respect to the Exxon Valdez thread, here is my reasoning as to why it was locked down. As spedrunr stated, I use similiar techniques here that I use in the classroom. If one of my students got a crazy haircut that was just awful and one of the students started picking on him and calling him an idiot because of it, regardless of the fact if I think the haircut is hideous as well, I need to step in and put it a stop to it. That was my reasoning for closing the thread regarding the "exxon" glove. You can disagree with my logic but that is my reasoning.

Hopefully, as someone astutely noted above, we can all move on now to discussing gloves, stories about finding a treasures at a flea market and how much better lanolin is than lexol. 8)
