Uh, no. I assume you didn't see my pickle one, and I think there are more to come. "One should not rest on one's laurels, or one's laurel's may become soiled." Caption Evaluation Committee (CEC)

Piering into her eyes he realized she was quite the catch.

As for you, Scott, thanks for adding a little culture to the festivities. I think she would have had me at Ruth ... I can tell you I've put myself in some scarier locations than that -- without a bodyguard -- with a lot less upside than a Ruth. She probably would have had me at 40s Riddle.

Nice visual! Some absolute hilarious scenes in that movie.

Now let's see some captions related to that visual, and let's see some additions to "the date was going well until ..." one.

Fair enough. But I'm playing under protest.

The date was going well until:
He offered to show her his "high, hard one."
He asked if she liked poetry and started to recite "There Once Was a Man From Nantucket."
"Hey is your Goldsmith a keeper or are ya open to a trade?"

The ole' puff, puff pass routine.

Guy: "I hate to be BLUNT, but you suck!"

Girl:" What the heck, you need a cutoff?"

Meryl (laughing) "I guess your hose isn't what it used to be!!!" :P

Careful, the certified Captioneers of the CEC don't like it when their expertise is questionned. It took them years of training to be able to discern from the many captionicitries, and it doesn't pay as much as some had hoped. They may give you a taunting (a la indignant French in Holy Grail).

He wanted to be closer to her but she preferred 60 feet 6 inches.

Ni, Ni is what I say to that.

Things were going well until he:
Yelled "Nice catch, Snodgrass" every time she dropped one.
Kept going on and on about his Titanic conspiracy theories.
Had to go because "me missus prob'ly got supper on the table by now."

Leaving the field now.

The date was going well until he:

said he'd rather play with boys.

said he wanted someone with more putouts.

said he'd rather do this with his hat on.

said he wanted someone with more experience with other positions.

said he'd love to play with someone who gets paid to do this.

(southern drawl) Thank you, thank you, Thank you very much!

Nice ones, but who says that she was the one who called it off.

The date was going well until ...
- she got all huggy (look at picture)
- she kept talking about marriage and kids and stuff (and it was a first date)
- she thought that the infield fly rule applied even with two outs (novice)
- she didn't approve of his glove collection (deal breaker)

Here's my take:

The date was going well until...
- she kept comparing him to her other partner (look at picture)
- wanted a real diamond. (that's about right)
- wanted to use someone else's equipment.
- asked for assistance in middle relief.
- she brought stuff outta left field. (Been there dude)
- suggested that as the pitcher he should check the rubber.

Yea, that would do it, and been there, too, on the left field stuff (though a little craziness is interesting for a while). As for the rubber one, I believe that is a sign of a date going really well.

Be still Miss Spalding or there will be no gift from the Goldsmith, tho you certainly are a Peach!

My homage to okdoak's creative -- though unwinning -- post:

That lucky dog Norman with his Em Jay moves, championing such concepts of everlasting love and diamonds, reached Victoria's globes down at the Hudson after a marathon session. Ex boyfriend Ken welled up with anger -- he wasn't ok at all with it -- ended up in Folsom after showing Norman the other end of his Winchester.
