The Endorsed Glove That Never Was (or hasn't been found)

Postby vintagebrett » July 9th, 2008, 2:56 pm

I was thinking about all of the endorsed gloves that have surfaced over the years and some of the ones that are cataloged as being made but haven't surfaced. That got me thinking about which players never had endorsement deals but you wish they would because you'd want one of their gloves in your collection.

As I thought about all of the famous baseball names, especially early players, there were quite a few that came to mind that would be valuable commodities and neat to own as well (Cap Anson, Mordecai Brown among others). However, I think if I could choose one player, it would be Jim Thorpe. He is noted as one of the finest athletes of the 20th century and I think it be really cool to have a glove endorsed by him.

What do you guys think? What player(s), who's endorsemed glove has never surfaced, would you like to have in your collection? It can be for any reason - monetary, sentimental, etc.

Another negro league ballplayer..Ted "Double Duty" Radcliffe
My family (wife and daughter at the time) had breakfast with him at a hotel outside of Chantilly in Vinginia. He made our breakfast unforgettable that morning. Later that night he held "court" in the hotel lobby from 11 pm till 2 or 3 in the morning. Six or seven other negro league players sat with him telling stories....one of those times you wish you had a video recorder to set up and let it record for the entire night.
George Frazier, pitcher 1978 - 1987......
I don't put any foreign substances on the baseball. Everything I use is from the good old U.S.A.
