Glove Collecting Is International

Postby softball66 » July 6th, 2008, 11:46 am

In a swap of a Texas Stetson and a vintage glove, my friend Gian Landi of the Italian Olympic Baseball Team has sent me a replica of his Italian Team's 2008 jersey. Wow! Am I honored. Gian is a buyer of vintage gloves on eBay and has purchased our source book and glove price guide. Say, Gian, there's a couple of great Italian American baseball stars from the Yanks: DiMaggio, Rizzuto, Crossetti so Italy has a great baseball heritage.
I'll get a picture of the jersey posted here shortly.
Along with our good buddy Moonlight Laurent of France, we have indeed
gone across the world with glove collecting.
Our thanks to everyone who's helped Laurent outfit his new baseball team!

Joe, that is a cool shirt.

One of the gloves I sold a couple weeks back is headed to Poland!

That's right Joe! Many thanks to all of you. I was blessed to meet you and your generosity has been put to good use. In the few months to come, I'll post pictures of what has become of all your precious gifts. When the school year starts again in September, I'll be the proud head teacher of a baseball class! Isn't it great?! The whole school year will evolve around baseball, in English studies of course, but also Mathematics, Arts, P.E., and Music. Baseball will provide me with all the good stuff to teach American history, geography and the American culture at large.

I'm now becoming friends with other French baseball players and it seems that what was started here, thanks to you guys, in this very forum, will eventually become something huge.

My dad even made baseball bats for us. Ash and oak bats. I'm currently polishing them. I'll post pictures when I'm done. :D

And best of all, our team has recently drafted a brand new player. He's still a little too young to hold the ball or don a glove, but I'm sure he'll make a pretty good player when the time comes. His name is Owen. He's my son and he was born last week. :D

Everything's so perfect!

Congrats on your new son! That sounds like a fun class you are going to be teaching - I'm sure the kids will enjoy it.

Congratulation Laurent on the new rookie in the family. Rookie of the year one might say.
Thanks too for all that you have done in bringing baseball through English and English through baseball for your students!

Thanks everyone! Now I have a tricky question for all of you... do they make baseball gloves for new-borns? Or, if not, what is the smallest size available? Do you have photos of tiny leather gloves?

Here is a link for one store that offers Nokona gloves personalized with a newborns name and birth information. I'm sure there are other options out there also.
