Rawlings Date Code

Postby ccmmcc » May 23rd, 2006, 9:50 pm

Could someone explain to me how to use the Rawlings date codes? For instance, REB01. Thank you for your time.

This is the "BLACKHORSE" code. BLACKHORSE letters interchange for 0123456789 for each letter in sequence. First two numbers are month, next letter is year. last two numbers indicate the leather from which tanner: 01 is Horween. Hence "BL" would be 01 or January. Third letter "K" would indicate year ending "5" or 85, etc.

I have a USA Rawlings PRO H with ABL01 on the little finger. I assume this is a date code but with the above it gives me a month of 20. Can someone explain? Thanks.

Problem when you try to do something from memory at my age. The first letter is the last digit of the year: "K" at the beginning and for example, would mean "5" or '85 or '95 maybe even 2005. The next two letters represent the month: "EB" for example, would mean 01 or January.

ABL01 translates to "A" = "3" '83, 93 etc. Your "BL" works out to "12" or December. 01 is Horween leather. These dating codes allow the manufacturer to determine if there was bad stock or blems emenating from the factory at the time once some issue might show up.

That is the same for a HOH 54HC that I have. I have had it since the 84 and its date should be 83. I'm still loving it.

Mine is broken in perfectly for me. If I can get the two modified traps I'm breaking in now to end up half as well as this one I'll have done well. Maybe I'm getting impatient in my old age but these modified traps just don't seem to loosen up very well. Maybe my 10 year old just doesn't throw hard enough.
