Baseball Glove Collector's Library

Hi All,

Just a note to let you all know I got the Glove Collector’s Library up and running on my website.

I saved every glove article and story I ever came across over the years and I wanted to share them with all of you. You know how I love reference material. Joe continually sent us things to read over the years and I thought I would continue the tradition and save him the postage. When I told him of this project he graciously offered up a ton of other great material to post. I’m still copying, scanning and uploading it so there will be a lot more to come and it will constantly be expanded. Thanks Joe.

Just a few notes to pass along – you’ll have to create a username and password to get into it. You will come across something that says “Receive Digest”. I would highly recommend selecting “Yes” as the site will send out an automatic e-mail to everyone alerting you of only the NEW files uploaded. If only we could have had that feature with the Glove Galleries. You wouldn’t have to scroll through every picture to see which new files were uploaded. All of the files in the Library are PDF’s so you will need Acrobat Reader, a link of which is on the site. Some of the files are large in size, especially the ones in color, so please be patient while they load. A lot of the stories were torn from magazines, newspapers and publications so the quality isn’t perfect on some of them. We are obviously limited by the original media, copiers and scanners. I did my best to cite the author and publication when I had them. If any of you can shed any light on the missing info, I would appreciate it. And lastly, the database won't allow a long list of prohibited characters like apostrophes commas, quotation marks, etc. in the file names. This totally bugs me as I'm a stickler for that kind of stuff so please disregard missing apostrophes and such.

I think you’ll dig it from a reference perspective. There’s a ton of things to read and more to come. This Library project is what I call Phase II of the site. I think you’ll enjoy the upcoming Phase III. Have fun reading in the meantime.

JD

Thanks Brett for helping me test it.

I just want to thank you so much for taking the time to post all those great articles. I subscribed to the Glove newsletter years ago, but let my subscription lapse. It was really nice to see all these great articles all in one place. Thanks again...
Alas, my glove is better than my game.

JD,

Thanks for putting this together. This is good stuff.

Also, thanks, Joe for the materials. I'm a big fan of the history of the game. Now I pay more attention to what the old time players have on their hands.

Look forward to seeing more.
