A2000 Counterfeit or Bootleg gloves

Postby worldwin » August 16th, 2007, 1:57 am

OK, pop quiz...

Who else has seen these supposed A2000's on eBay...you know, the ones that look like a hybrid of a A2000, with a little HOH wannabe look to it?

The gloves are usually stamped "Made in Korea" but I seriously doubt that these gloves were made by Wilson simply by the way they are put together.

I remember when I first got into glove collecting around "99 or so, I did some research online and found some info regarding a law suit that pertained to counterfeit Wilson A2000 gloves. I am not sure if some of these gloves that turn up on eBay are some of those gloves...but you never know!

I would really love to hear any info that anyone has to share about this.

That guy will tell you how his son is a minor league ballplayer and that is where he gets his "inventory" from.

I thought it also looked like a Rawlings from the back...just by the welding, and how there is the fastback...etc...and anybody that has a half mind would know that the xlo is a single post open back... :P

HAH did anyone notice the "Finest In the Field" on the pinky too. This is a joke. I feel bad for the Rawlings glove this might have once been. "Prime Kip Leather," man would I love to go into battle with one of those on my hand.

i remember when i started collecting around 2004. i was rummaging thru a bin at PIAS and one of these POS's showed up. it looked hideous (cardboard cheap leather, inconsistent stamping, plastic piping). at first i thot i found a gem, but after further expection, i thought something (many things?) just weren't right. luckily i passed on it.

the crime is that people (reputable glovers?) are selling them w/o informing the bidders.

don't shoot the messinger

That "Wilson A2000" is a "Rawlings" dressed in drag.

The auction ended early and was relisted.
An error in the listing is what is stated.

This one looks to have a pig skin linning. Not exactly a traditional high end material.

I sent an email to this seller through my eBay account, letting him/her know that they were selling a counterfeit glove. In reply, I was thanked for letting them know, nothing more. It would appear that this seller will not be amending the listing to include this information, nor will the listing be removed. Add this seller to my list of eBay sellers with whom I will never do business. I guess scamming people in this way doesn't bother this seller. I know that if I knowingly tried to purposely misrepresent something like this, it would certainly bother the heck out of me. What ever happened to having a conscience? Honesty? Integrity? It's sad that people will stoop to such levels to make a buck. I know that times are hard right now and getting harder every day, but you still have to look at yourself in the mirror each and every day and be happy with the person that you see looking back, no?
