Asian Gloves....

Postby WMD_172 » May 4th, 2008, 10:00 pm

So I know that many of you guys feel that in terms of leather stiffness, and just overall feel many of today's gloves just aren't right...

I yearn to return my first pro-6 to its original shape, and to keep my pro1000h stiff without having to place plastic inserts in the pinkie and thumb, and I would love nothing more that a brand new pro-cfc or pro-cfcb in my hands.

And as much as I love Rawlings, I just get bring myself to buy a new glove from them, the pp are too soft and the new HOH dont feel as nice or stoic as the old USA glove. Its like when you walk into a bar full of gorgeous women, but you just don't feel a connection with any of them like you had with your old girlfriend, even if she's gotten a little flimsy or had her pocket blown out by a line drive.

Lately I have become infatuated with the Asian glove market (Japan, Taiwan). And I want to know what you guys think about it. I have been looking at http://www.taiwanbaseball.com.tw/product_detail.php?p_id=13&level0_id=6&level1_id=16 to replace my old DCT...

I asked the site's owner what he felt about the glove. He said the leather was unbelievably stiff. Even though the colors are too loud for me I may take a chance on this puppy.

btw...I can't sleep at night because I cannot remember the model number of this old USA HOH, it had wingtip back and a reinforced h web, conventional back, and was around 12 1\4 or 12 1\2...

The prices seem reasonable.

If any of you order from there, tell us how it went and what you think of the glove.

They have been on ebay for a while now under the seller name "taiwanbaseball". Here is their feedback page

[http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=taiwanbaseball&&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller&sspagename=VIP:feedback:2:us&iid=230249492586]

I have never ordered from them but have posted before about some of the gloves they carry as I thought some were pretty interesting.

Had me dying with that analogy.

Anyways I've been trying to venture out myself and trying to make a connection from overseas to home but the language barrier has been an issue. I'm willing to join forces and get something but not the brands listed on that website. Also I just have alot of promising stuff I might consider over here. If things don't work with the prospects over here I'll definitely like to pursue in getting something from overseas.

Also I was in contact with the same seller before in regards to a ssk. I just never pulled the trigger on it. I might reconsider the next time.

I've seen the Woodz baseball glove website before and have to admit to being intrigued by some of their gloves. I believe that Woodz is from Taiwan. I prefer a tan glove, but those deep blue ones do have some appeal.

Here is their website:

Enjoy.

I was talking to the owner of that website... and he told me that almost all of the gloves you will see on like yahoo Taiwan auctions and his site from SSK Zett and Mizuno and even a few other brands big or small name are literally the same glove, off the same line from usually the same leather (some kip, some hard oxhide) and it is only after that process that they are stamped and have brand-specific patches sewn on them.

If you copy the website link into Babel Fish, and translate from traditional chinese to english, you can understand the sites alot better, even though there is alot of "engrish" in the direct translation
