Hi Everyone,

I've been collecting gloves and bats for about 15 years and can't believe how far the hobby has come! I remember purchasing that first glove, a Wilson Billy Martin at a flea market in the Buffalo area - that was the hook! I've since re-located to the Cleveland area and hook up once in a while with Bob Seedhouse and Mark Walters (veteran Cleveland area glovers). In the coming weeks I hope to post some photo's of my collection for all to see. Thanks to Jim Daniels for suggesting that I take a look at the site.

Paul, your name is a familiar one to me from the many great gloves you've sold on eBay. I'm a few clicks south of you, in Columbus. If you know of any good antique shows or flea markets around Ohio, feel free to pass them along!

Hi Bret,

I was in your neighborhood with Bob Seedhouse and a couple of other baseball collectors the Friday before Thanksgiving. I'm sure you've attended the Scott's Antique show off of 71. It was my first time attending this show and unfortunately I didn't find anything worth while. I did find some nice antique furniture that I planned to build copies of (another one of my expensive hobbies).

Every once in a while I have the local baseball collectors over for a beer or a glass of wine - maybe you can one of the get togethers - it would be great to meet you and for you to meet the Cleveland collectors.

I've been to the Scott's show many times. Unfortunately, I've missed the first two shows this year. The next one is January 19-20 and I may make that one.

I've picked up a few gloves there over the years- nothing super-special, but a couple I like are posted in the "Today I Found..." section of this forum.

Every once in awhile, there will be a dealer there with a collection of gloves or other vintage sports equipment. One guy that is almost always there with a large display of antiques will often have several boxes of gloves stashed beneath his tables, but most are in rough shape and way over-priced.

There's another dealer there who has had the same Winchester glove in his display case (a small-ish, well-worn model, with a $400 price tag) for the past five years!

It's not exactly a "glove mecca", but for anyone interested in antiques in general, this is usually a great- and huge!- show. They have a web site (search for "Scott's Antiques") in case anyone would like to find their show dates.
