Jack Frost Sporting Goods

Postby Bravosin99 » December 15th, 2007, 10:30 pm

Has anyone ever heard of Jack Frost Sporting Goods? Or does anyone have any of these gloves? Dad and I recently picked up a 1920's tunnel loop web and when we started to clean it found what looked to be a name but the name is Jack Frost and underneath it reads sporting goods....Any info would be appreciated...Thanks Josh

Hi Josh, Sounds like an interesting glove. Below is a link that might be a start. Hope it helps. Perhaps they are tied in some way. :)

Dave, Thanks for the input...We were thinking it is probably a private label...Here are pics of the glove, it is a rather large glove and seems to be very high quality.

Hey Josh, Very NICE glove. You and your Dad have some great old timer gloves. I sure enjoy the old ones. That single tunnel loop does look like it has very nice quality to it. Neat find.

Have a nice weekend.

Hi Josh,

Perhaps you are talking of the Ripon glove made by Ripon, Leather Divsion. If so then, yes it is one for my collection. :D :D :D You know me, I like the oldies and the weird ones and the unique. LOL I believe this one is an ambidextrous glove from the 1920's. I have not got the glove, but should have it next week. Once I get it I will send JD picks to add it to his website under the Novelty glove header. It is a tough glove to find, and so I decided to give it try and bid on it. I think it will fit very nicely on the top shelf of the glove display. :)

The weird and strange and unique gloves seem not to come cheap in my collection!!!! Even though this glove is likely not endorsed,(I don't know until I get the glove) and even though Ripon is a private label, ( I believe) it still had a strong interest on ebay by some. I could not get it cheap!!! The person that sold the glove, told me she had several people who wanted her to use the buy it now option and were making offers to her. I am glad the seller let the auction run to the end, even though a few people had made her "offers" that were tempting her. The old glove looks like it belongs in a museum. :)

Maybe an additional category in Joe's price guide, on prices for gloves should/could center around the Uniqueness of the glove or webs as those seem to bring an interest and an attention by collectors. Just a thought. Anyway Josh, I was glad I could pick it up.
