One That Got Away?

Did anyone else happen to see this buckle-back catcher's mitt on ebay?

Old "Mystery" Mitt

Looks pretty run-of-the mill, with an equally bland description to match. But take a look at the close-up shot of the rough cloth patch on this mitt.

Looks to me like a Winchester mitt slipped in under the radar! Not exactly a mint specimen, but at twenty bucks shipped I would take it. I put in a low early bid, was away from home when the auction ended and got outbid by a penny. Darn! I don't have a single Winchester in my collection.

With all the eagle-eyed collectors out there, not too many gloves like this go undetected.

Well Jimmy Stewart (Winchester 73) woulda been proud of ya for taking a bead on the Winchester that got by the scouts. Way to go!
