A 1960's Rawlings Mickey Mantle model XPG6 HOH glove sold for $225. Super condition. Too bad the seller thought it had to be completely relaced. It's only original once.

Back in 2011 this Macgregor Willie Mays glove sold at auction for $3286.00. The consensus is that it was a pro stock glove made for Mays that was gifted to his trainer. It re-appeared on ebay several months ago with a buy-it-now price tag of over five figures. After being removed and relisted a few times, along with numerous price reductions it eventually sold for $4000.00.

That's an interesting Spider Web glove. It's made in the style of the Bob Thompson/Jack Jensen models of the early '50's with minimal pocket lacing.

A rare 1960's Rawlings Mickey mantle TGF7 glove sold for $299. I owned one of these. The three finger style with a fastback design was unique for sure. The glove looks to be in great shape.

A 1920's Reach grommet web glove sold for $60. An interesting and well made glove. I would guess it's the "Al Reach" model. Reach made four variations. this looks like the short finger model ARL.

A circa 1902 Victor Sporting Goods catchers mitt sold for $157. Victor incorporated their patented designs on the majority of their line of mitts from high to low end. This one appears to be a smaller size mitt that the seller measured at 8" X 8 3/4". The back is only single stitched and is damaged at the wrist opening. The perimeter banding, crescent pad, lacing eyelets and buckle web also show some damage. Probably what kept the price down. On the plus side, the mitt is all leather and presents well as an artifact. I like the patented features quite a bit and their mitts were a favorite of mine. They are very distinctive and rivaled those of D&M mitts at the time.

A super rare Bernie Bernardino glove sold for $25. Made by Rawlings for Sisler/Hummel Sporting Goods of St' Louis. Originally the sporting goods store was called Sisler/Nelson and was opened in 1933. At that time Baseball great George Sisler partnered with the former manager of Leacock Sporting Goods, Charles Nelson. In 1938, Nelson sold his interest to Walter Hummel. Because of his name, Sisler had the inside track in supplying uniforms to baseball teams. Sisler/Hummel also sold a wide variety of sporting goods for all seasons.

A Spalding Whitey Ford Personal model 42-111 glove sold for $69. Sold pretty quickly. The glove is in great shape. The Flexomatic Palm models aren't as sought after as the Lazy S palm models. The Ford model 42-103 is really the one to have.

A 1957 Denkert Mickey Mantle model G84 glove with its original mailing box sold for $545. The glove is near mint but not the real story. Coupled with the box really makes the story. The glove was from a coupon found on the box of Cheerios or Wheaties, hence the General Mills address on the box.

A box of Cheerios showing the Mantle glove coupon. A lot of glove coupons were for the Rawlings models. This Denkert coupon is unusual. All the buyer needs to do is find that cereal box to complete the story. That shouldn't be that hard to find, especially on ebay.
