Interesting. I'm not a bat guy so I have a question. Is enhancing a signature on a bat as bad as it is on a glove? That's a big no no on gloves, but what about bats?

It looks to me like they gave it a really good cleaning and oiled it up to give it its shine.

I think the same as with gloves, you leave the enhancing to the card guy

They mention on the first auction the handle and barrel are cracked. The handle crack is easily visible. It's not mentioned on the most recent auction. Can those cracks be fixed to where they aren't noticeable?

Yes, cracks can be fixed fairly easily - depending on the work sometimes it's difficult to tell that a repair was made. Of course if you're selling a bat and know a repair was made that information should be made available.

Now that the VanderMeer bat topic is up, I have a Kren VanderMeer mini bat and wondered about the connection.
Two other Reds pitchers bats of that 1939-40 are interesting in that: pitchers game bats are difficult to locate. Generally I'm told pitchers often used players bats, mainly team ordered bats.
I had a Bucky Walters gamer that was highly sought. Also told a few years before that that a Paul Derringer game bat was available and that I should "jump on it."
Brett's dad did a very nice name refinishing job on a Lou Gehrig store model for me. I think that with bats this is more acceptable than trying to enhance or "fill" stamping on gloves.
