Yeah, I had it for a spell. Been thinking about why it keeps getting handed off and then it dawned on me, it doesn't fit into most collections because it's an unbleached white mitt. It just looks odd compared with the others surrounding it.

Happy to say that the game of "the musical D&M mitt" has stopped here with us...our thanks to all those who let it go. Oh, and please...somebody tell me more about this bleaching of white leather gloves...I'm telling the truth when I say that this procedure has never crossed my mind. If it had, I suppose I might have pursued that G41 that was ebay.

Come on... some lively discussion to pass the time! It gives you guys a topic to discuss in Baltimore again! :P

Murph, you're up next. Something ironical and witty to add?

A 1940's Rawlings "Bill Doak" model J glove sold for $381 on ebay. Included is a Glovolium bottle and a tattered glove box for a Bob Bowmwn glove. The Doak glove is in pretty nice shape with the markings in the pocket very strong and both cloth patches in good shape. The previous owner used a wood burning kit to inscribe his name and address on the back of the pinky.

That Doak glove was nice. You don't see too many of the J models floating around. It's too bad the box didn't match.

These days I try to live by the wisdom of the old glove gambler:

You got to know when to clean 'em,
Know when to leave 'em,
Know when to walk away
And know when to run.

And I am running away from this topic as far as my old legs will take me.
Nice stampings on that Model J. Bet it will clean up nice. :)

Well, obviously... had to match the Members Only jacket to complete the ensemble.

An early Spalding crescent pad base mitt sold for $330 on ebay. A nice intact cloth patch and overall in good condition.
