Hi All,
I have not been on the forum for awhile(2009) kind of got out of the glove thing sorry to say. Today I came across one I forgot that I even had and to be honest I have no idea how I got it or when. So what better place to come for help then here? It's a Wilson c.1930's model 2642(buckle back, tunnel loop) endorsed by HOF player Charles "Red" Ruffing. The mystrey is there is a second name or signature stamped just below the Ruffing stamping. The name is "Frank Albanese". Never heard the name so I looked it up online. baseball-reference.com lists a Frank Albanees who pitched in the minors around 1919-1923 for the Brandenton Growers(FL) & the Sapulpa Yanks(OK). To enhance this mystery the initials F.A. are scratched into the right buckle strap. Possible this glove was used by him? But the timeframe doesn't exactly fit the age of the glove?? Maybe I'm incorrect. There is another stamping of Frank Albanese on the upper back of the thumb only it's in block type lettering and not a signature as the one in front. I have pics avaible through email: dweb1@cox.net
Anyone who wants to take a look at it is more than welcomed. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time. It's good to be on here again.
