Celluloid button question

Postby okdoak » November 25th, 2011, 6:29 pm

I've often wondered why an otherwise quality glove would have such an unfinished looking button on it like the ones I've posted below. Think it's possible that a celluloid button was glued or pressed on originally?

Also, which way is the Reach logo on the patch supposed to face?! :)

That's interesting Greg. Never pondered that one. I think Goldsmith and Ratsch Peerless were big on the celluloid ones. Feel free to list any if I missed them. I may do a photo of all the button types for Reach and Spalding. I really like the older spalding/reach ones, Joel and I call them the Levi Strauss looking ones. Interesting on the patches. I've seen them that way as well for the Spalding and Reach brands.

Don't forget my favorite manufacturer, Reach. I have a Reach full web with a celluloid button. It should be in the Gallery.
