I don't know much about the really vintage gloves, but I think the most popular for those looking for a gamer would be the Pro-1000x, Pro-6x, and Pro-Tx lines.

Me, I've been searching the internet for years hoping to find another Pro-1005BF.

if ebay prices for 1960-1997 rawlings HOH's are an indicator of popularity, it looks like mint to near mint examples of:

1) pro6XTC, pro3XHC, xpg3H or xpg6H sold for $400- $1000
2) pro12tc, pro15xtc consistently go for $400-$600
3) xpg6 mantle $400-$1000
4) anything with wingtip, conventional back, v-anchoring, and i-web is +

hope this helps docglove

Rawlings Old School Styles

Postby BIGSOX04 » November 30th, 2008, 3:47 pm

I know I have spent some time and money looking for the best style with high quality and would like to see the company reintroduce products that made the company what it is, the premier global glove supplier to the baseball ( and softball) market. I also would like to see the old styles that could be customized to meet the demands of the next generations players individual tastes (color schemes, embroidery, etc.). So from a coach and parent in multiple leagues at several levels of play I can say players (and parents) are interested in a high quality products that will stand the test of time and would be willing to pay for that product.

I couldn't agree with BIGSOX04 more. Parents are willing to spend the money as long as the item will hold up over time. I spend the extra money on quality gloves for my son and he appreciates it. I have gotten him into the collecting/restoring aspect of baseball gloves and he is starting to get pretty knowlegeable. Also as you can see by the resale of the older quality gloves they hold there value due to the quality products that were used. My bigest complaint with Rawlings new high end gloves is the the finger crotches, a lot of them start to separate no matter how hard you try to baby that area.

Is this an example of a re-issue of the old Rawlings design? It is a real nice looking glove. The XPG6 was one of my favorite gloves. This is from an auction on ebay.

Don Morton carries the XPG6 and the XPG3, Mike. Not sure if they are USA made anymore, though.

They are made in the Philippines. I just got an XPG6 from Morton's last week. It's beautiful, and very stiff out of the box. Very well made, too.

Morton's also has a version of the 12TC, and they had a PRO1000, but I think it's sold out now.

It would be great if Bob was allowed to follow through on the reissues. I'd save up for one or two for sure.

I feel the same way... I would buy two right now. I'm just not comfortable with spending over $150 for a new glove not Made In The USA. There's one on Ebay (used XPG6 ) re-issue, but it's already over the $100 mark, which means it's too rich for my blood.

I have a sinking feeling the Eastbay Rawlings Made In USA offering will not be long for this planet, and I'll be surprised if this opportunity will be available in 2013. I believe 2012 will be the last time you'll be able to get a new Made In USA Rawlings.
