I was the winner of the "ebat bargan bin" Hutch "Tom Peuhl". I'll post some pix after getting it. I also won last months "ebay bargan bin" American Eagle Spahn with the same lacing. I've gotten that one & it was outstanding, clean & soft. I can only hope the Hutch is close to as nice (I have my doubts).

I remember the Spahn glove as being pretty nice. This Hutch was a nice find on your part. it definitely needs a little TLC. Would like to see a picture after a cleaning.

On the Hutch...not a lot to go on with those pictures, but my impression is that it's one of those gloves that looks bad from dirt, not damage. Dirt cleans off- damage doesn't! Bet it looks great when it's cleaned up.

By the way, back several years ago when I picked up my AE Spahn, I made a lace diagram for the finger pattern. If anybody needs this, I could probably email it to you. Might save you some headaches!

A 3:30 am west coast wake-up call for last second bidders didn't cut it with this glove. Seller may have been better off money-wise with a 6:00 pm auction ending. I thought this 1950's Rawling's "Mickey Mantle" MM6 "The Comet" had everything going for it and would do better than the $112 winning bid. it is one of the most popular of the MM models. Great markings in the pocket and well maintained, nice old style Mantle signature, good cloth patch and lining.

Very nice 1950's Sonnett "Mickey Vernon" model 69B trapper for an $85 ebay BIN. Flexotan leather and just broken in.

good looking "Craft Built" patch on the side.
patent numbers on the web refer to The Latina trapper design.

Circa 1930's rare Tru-Sport "John Broaca" model glove sold for $51 On ebay. Good quality buckleback, legible markings in the pocket with some silver and good cloth patch.

Beautiful and lightly used Rawlings circa 1970 "Brooks Robinson" model XFCB30. Sold for $75 on ebay. A refreshing change of pace from the commonplace XFCB17 with flex-o-matic palm. This glove has the classic "lazy s" lacing in the pocket, split web, "edge-u-cated heel" lacing and the "Longhorn" stitching variation to the "Wingtip" back design.

Rawlings XPG26 "Mickey Mantle" autograph model in great shape sold for $140 on ebay. Similar in some respects to the glove above but with the open wrist and a few years earlier.

A step above these two gloves is the Rawlings XPG6 "Mickey Mantle" HOH model. The glove also is in great shape and despite a small mouse bite taken out of the heel lacing, still sold for $285 on ebay

circa 1925 Goldsmith model 67 for $58 on ebay. Glove looks to be in good shape with legible markings in the pocket. No cloth patch on the back but a nice logo button. The 1923 patent date stamped on the thumb refers to the tunnel loop web, a Hugo Goldsmith invention.

Rare Allyn Stout model CS split finger glove sold for $117 on ebay. Nice looking glove with clear markings in the pocket and single tunnel web. ebay seller bubbared has other gloves and vintage glove catalog books. Here is a link.http://shop.ebay.com/bubbared/m.html

Welting is the leather strip placed between two leather parts sewn together. It can be for reinforcement and ornamentation of the seam. A baseball glove with welted seams is a sign of quality, at least the manufacturer went to the trouble to strengthen the glove against the usual wear and tear. The glove below, an OK model from Brett Lowman's collection shows two types of welting, the flat welt between the fingers and a rolled welt running down the middle of the finger. Jacob Dubow invented the rolled welt in 1943 as a better method to reinforce and allow for the forward curve of the finger stalls.

ebay has 5 different models listed in the last 2 weeks featuring the rolled welting. Below is a Marathon "Terry Moore" model stamped for the armed services. It sold for $43.

Early J.C. Higgins full web glove sold for $200 on ebay. Nice cloth patch on the back, some wear to the inside but a good quality glove that displays well.

A "Babe Ruth" glove sold on ebay for $261. The pictures from the listing were pretty dark. I enhanced them and recognized the "Marvel" logo in the pocket. A quick check with http://www.baseballglovecollector.com confirmed the block letter endorsement and brand. The glove is in decent shape, has a double tunnel web.

another "Marvel" brand, this one the 1940's "Joe DiMaggio" Spalding Marvel model 133 sold for $79 on ebay. Again, a single poor picture didn't really help the seller very much. Top of the line glove in its day.

1920's mint Goldsmith model 20 glove for $380 on ebay. Except for a little shelf wear, the glove looks brand new! White cloth piping, blue and gold patch just like the day it was made.
