I had this on my watch list from last week and was interested in how it would end. Musial PMM picture box with two gloves, one that looked like it might clean up okay and the other in poor shape. No takers with a $749 starting bid.

A couple of nice newer models ending quickly with BIN bids. First is the Spalding "Don Larson" model 1051 for $150. Top of the line glove in the late 1950's and has all the classic Rawling's trademarks.

Second is a mint Kennedy Sporting Goods "Gil Hodges" model from jeneli. He has been listing some beauties lately. This one sold for $170

Heritage Sports has weekly internet auctions as well as larger live auctions. They may be worth checking out for gloves.http://sports.ha.com/
Their extensive archive section is worth looking through. It requires registering with them and their e-mails aren't invasive. They have had some blockbuster sales that are a kick. one example I came across from 2009, a game used Spalding "Rocky Colavito" model 42-204 glove from Sandy Koufax's 1966 season sold for $107,550!

Mike that Koufax glove I authenticated and it was about as "dead on" a gamer that one could find. (hence the high selling price). The glove itself had Koufax's rarely known nickname written on it "KooFoo" and his uniform #, but the clincher was that Jane Leavy's biography on Koufax recounted Koufax giving the glove to umpire Doug Harvey (the glove was placed in the auction by Harvey's sons).
I got a laugh out of this being a "Rocky" Colavito model because shortly before, I had read an account of a relief pitcher called into face Rocky himself in a tense "men on base" situation. The pitcher looked down at his glove while he was warming up, and it was a "Rocky" Colavito Spalding Model. Yep. Irony.
A year or so after looking at the Koufax glove I was called down to Heritage to help authenticate a "Whitey" Ford gamer. Yes indeed, it was a Spalding Colavito model with "certain alterations" made to the glove.
Most puzzling alluded game glove Heritage had was a "Wee" Willie Keeler glove. This was a lefty throw model, but when I looked for photo matches, I found Keeler throwing both left handed and right-handed. Maybe he was ambidextrous, I don't know for sure.

I read the Heritage description and the provenance of the glove seemed strong. I didn't know about the Koufax's nickname of "koofoo". That is pretty funny. Koufax was my guy when I was a teenager. His exploits caught my imagination. His ERA is just legendary. Authenticating the glove must have been fun for you. This one had a lot of personal writing on it. Maybe something you wouldn't see often.

An early Spalding full web glove sold with an ebay BIN of $125. Despite the loose stitching of the lining , the glove has a lot going for it because of its good quality construction. The markings in the pocket are still evident, the cloth patch and logo button are still intact and the glove overall has held up well.

The 1921 S&D catalog lists this model as having oil dressed "Special Tanned Brown Calfskin". I noticed a difference from my other horsehide gloves. The calfskin was definitely softer and more pliable. Joe's catalog source book and JD's catalog website describe the type of leather used for vintage gloves and it's helpful research if there is a glove on ebay someone is interested in bidding. I have my eye on one now that I researched a little.

1920-30's D&M catchers mitt for $48 on ebay. Seems like a reasonable price. Originally white leather, really displays nicely from the back.

Circa 1958 MacGregor G113 "Don Mueller" Personal Model glove and picture box for $96 on ebay. Quite a bargain. Glove has the nice "Spider Web" and cloth patch. Overall in good shape. The picture box is pretty beat up, maybe keeping the price down. I

The super looking D&M "George Sisler" basemitt ended at $560, not meeting its reserve.

1940's Rawlings "Bill Doak" model 5BD sold for $44 on ebay. Still in great condition, it looks like the glove will clean up nicely. Most of the silver markings still evident on the face and the cloth patch and lining in good shape.

one more from the ebay bargain bin. A Hutch "Tom Peuhl" model glove for $27. The picture was not that good and did not show off the features of the glove, most notably the multi-lace fingers.

I was the winner of the "ebat bargan bin" Hutch "Tom Peuhl". I'll post some pix after getting it. I also won last months "ebay bargan bin" American Eagle Spahn with the same lacing. I've gotten that one & it was outstanding, clean & soft. I can only hope the Hutch is close to as nice (I have my doubts).
