Great photo - thanks for sharing. They are all Rawlings gloves - if you go to the large version of the picture you can see a couple with the rolled lace webbing!

Great picture! Not positive, but the guy 2nd from left looks alot like Billy Loes, one of the great eccentrics of the game. A few years ago on ESPN Classic Duke Snider was reminiscing about the 1955 WS. Supposedly a reporter asked the team before Game 1 if they were finally going to beat the Yankees. Jackie Robinson says "We'll kill 'em!", Pee Wee Reese says "This is our year!" and on down the line until Loes says "I'll take the Yankees in six." Anyway, I'll take the glove he's trying on!

The guy directly in front of the guy with the "N" on his cap looks like Koufax to me. Maybe not though as it looks like he has a glove on his left hand and since this is from 1948 it would be too early for him.

I don't think that guy is sniffing the glove -- it looks like it's another player (the one I think looks like Koufax) holding a glove behind him.

You are right! My eyes played tricks on me....it is the guy behind that is holding the glove.

Sandy Koufax would have been 13 years old in 1948, it might be him. I also like the tear drop trailer the players are leaning on that held the footlocker with the gloves.

Hey guys,

I was tooling around on the internet and found the Corbis photography site. if you search for baseball (black and white) about 1400 or so photos come up. I don't know how to load them on this site but found Whitey Witt wearing a 3 finger lutzke style and Gil Hodes showing off his new Denkert at spring training. Probably a whole bunch more.
