Unusual Glove from Ebay

Postby perezfan » October 15th, 2008, 12:37 pm

I recently won this unusual looking glove off ebay, but do not know a thing about it (other than it looks very cool). It has not yet arrived, and I am rather excited to receive it...

Can anybody provide background as to who might have manufactured this, and why the reinforcement layer over the entire back side? It looks almost like a Decker Patent, taken to a new extreme...

Thanks in advance for any insight you experts can provide!
Mark

I'm pretty sure it's a Stall and Dean - I have a Charlie Gehringer model with the same design, just a different wrist strap. If you go to JD's site, and look at the Stall and Dean models, you'll see a few more examples. They were definitely well made gloves and I like the craftmanship on them. I think they would be even cooler with the black Stall and Dean tag on the back but haven't come across this style with a tag.

Thanks, Brett...

I just checked JD's site, and it definitely looks like what is labeled "Stall & Dean 1". Looks like an exact (or very close) match...

Is this a very rare model? I haven't seen any previous to this, but that probably means little to nothing...

Appreciate your help! Mark

Hi Mark,

Great glove. I just sold an almost identical Ted Williams Stall & Dean with the same back for $150 so the price was right. It's still in the sale section. They are quite common but they sure are nicely made. Nice pickup.
