Would you like to have a forum get together in Las Vegas?

I’m not a big Vegas guy myself (just not my kind of town). However, there are lots of cheap flights and hotel rooms. Would some of you be interested in getting together sometime next year (perhaps in the fall, after the World Series and before Thanksgiving). Do some glove swap, glove talk, shake some hands, put faces to names, play some catch, eat buffets, etc, etc.

If we have the interest, but nobody in the Vegas area, I would be happy to coordinate it. I’m sure we could get decent room rates, and reserve a conference room or something.

Any thoughts? I only ask this far in advance because, persoanally, I would need the time to plan, financially, and start working on the wife. Think we could all get kitchen passes for a couple days  ?

Next year, hell. Let's go tonight. I can be there in three and a half hours. Count me in anytime. Great idea.

Sounds like a developing plan. I'm interested once you have the dates nailed down. I hope OJ doesn't show up. HAHA! (sorry bad joke)

Yeah- it’s definitely a developing plan, if even that. Just an idea I had coming in to work a few days ago. Not much response though. Maybe spring would be better, or summer? Vegas is about 2000 degrees in the summer- or is it the Vegas thing altogether? I think it would be worth while to try to plan something, somewhere. Again, I’ll be glad to put it together if we have the interest.

You may be better off with Spring. As you said, Vegas is insanely hot right now. Then the winter holidays are coming up, and people always have lots on their plate from Thanksgiving to New Years. But something around March or April might get a better response and turnout. Just a thought.

If it works out, I own a travel agency and I'm happy to help people look for rooms in Vegas. Usually if you book enough rooms at one hotel, they will give group rates (I can't get deals on airfare though...airlines no longer give discounted rates or commissions to agents).

good to know! I've found that flights to Vegas can very reasonable, because the casinos are in kahoots with the airlines of course. Maybe we should shoot for spring. Do you know if it's real pricey to reserve a big conference room in the hotel, and how that works- assuming we have the interest of course.

Depends on the hotel. Usually, yes, it can be expensive. It isn't hard to reserve one, it just might not be cost effective to do so.

Man, why didn't anybody have this idea a couple of years ago - before I got married and had a kid, and while I still lived in Vegas!

I still have some really great connections there, so if this idea does get off the ground and people are looking for hotels and such, let me know.
