curious question comes thru eBay

Postby softball66 » August 24th, 2008, 7:21 am

I'm posting this for the edification of our glove forum members as I'm certainly no full-fledged expert on Wilson A2000s. I got this query through eBay from a fellow who must own a similar glove and makes some assumptions based on what he has, I guess.
I assured him that the stampings in my glove as an XXC with a dot on the inside thumb were correct and that there was no USA designation on the glove, rather that of "Japan" stamping on the outside pinkie. Here's what he had to say:
"Hi--Where on your glove is the A2000XXC marking--between the web and piping on outside thumb as it should be? Does it say nylon stitched at thumb base, Pro-Back above the W in a circle on the thumb base below the web?, Specially pro-softened fro softball on the indside pinky, Hand oiled and shaped on the outside pinky? And THE A2000XXC is made in America there is no Made in Japan marked on it. I own the glove and have been using it fir years. I can show you photos if it would help. The onw yu're selling, you might want to look further into. Are you sure it's not XLC? or JUst XC? --Don

I have the exact same model (think that there are pictures under the "Today I Found..." thread from about a year ago).

Everything on my glove matches up with Joe's photo and descriptions, with a few minor differences. The stamping in the palm is the earlier circle with a "W" A2000 logo and the glove is stamped "Japan" on the pinky, down by the wrist opening. The leather is a darker brown instead of the lighter tan color.

Kind of ignorant to assume that if you have one model of a particular glove all models ever issued will be identical.

I've owned and sold several A2000 XXCs over the years...its legit. It's a good quality Japan A2000 that has a nice shape for softball. Sounds like that guy might be referring to a XXL which had that Hand Oiled and Shaped reference on the pinky.
