Disappointed

Hi, I'm a Roy Rogers memorabilia collector and I bought this "Dale Evans" baseball glove off eBay only to discover it's a Darrell Evans glove. Guess I'll have to put it in my baseball glove collection.
I'm tempted to bid on the Charlie Poot glove, also on eBay.
Seriously, as we know, this is how we get some bargains on trusty eBay.
Some of the names they come up with are humorous!
(I did have a reason for the Evans glove purchase. It was another of those Wilsons where, for some reason, the company revised it's early A2000 shooting star logo for their upper middle-of-the line gloves in the late '70s)

Over the years, I've seen maybe a half-dozen different "Cesar Cedendo" gloves (Rawlings GJF4) advertised as "Cesar Cedens" models.

Can we blame the seller's lack of baseball knowledge or Cedeno's poor penmanship?

There's a "Dale Murphy Spalding Autograph Model" glove on ebay .... what?!?! a Dale Murphy Spalding??? Turns out it is a Dave Kingman, and the seller has another Dale Murphy RBG36 listed. Probably just did a cut and paste for the description and forgot to change the name ...
Yes, I still have my first glove.

I remember getting a great deal on something I bought on e-bay (can't remember the specifics, but it wasn't baseball related).

I misspelled when I entered the search, only one item came up, but it was what I was looking for. The seller had misspelled it exactly the same way I had. I was the only bidder and I think I was the only one who even looked at the item. I felt a bit guilty, so I sent the seller a couple of extra dollars with my payment.

Dale...err...Darrell Evans arrives

Postby softball66 » August 13th, 2008, 7:16 pm

Got the Evans A2120 and will try to post pic soon. Nicely made gloves, just under A2000 quality BUT has the revitalized "Shooting Star" Logo from the first series of A2000s issued by Wilson in A2000. Reason? A marketing ploy I guess.
I did get to compare it to my other endorsed shooting star glove of the same year(s), an A2124 Fred Lynn (plain back, single vertical hinge web).
Lynn is bigger by the way.
The Evans is a closed back (Wilson calls it "Pro Back") with the wrist notched for the single finger control BUT with a little finger exit for the pinkie side of the back. Not sure I like that. I stuck my little finger out of the inside and he didn't like it ("too exposed!" he hollered) and I stuck him back in.
The Evans glove is broken in well and done right. I wouldn't ming playing with this glove. Leather is getting just a little loose for some tastes.
