I think that is awesome that y'all got together to "have a catch," as Ray Kinsella says. I don't know why I didn't think of that ... I could go over and play catch with Joe and some of his Nokonas ... and maybe borrow one ... yeah ... and forget to give it back .... yeah .... and drive home with it ... YEAH ....
Yes, I still have my first glove.

funny something as cool as playing catch can be re-directed to talking about the drama queen bosox (i searched other threads and they all seem to go that way) :x

haha, it's all good, it's all baseball

if any of you fellow glovers have local have-a-catch gatherings, feel free to post them on this thread.

and if you bosoxers can't resist yacking about yer team, that's welcomed also

Mike from Glove-Works and I had a catch in a busy parking lot once. The lot attendant told us to be careful. He must have been a glovefan

Maybe when the temperature goes down to 85F, that should be about mid-October.

u old school ballers can boast 100y/o ball parks with traditional, outdoor fun-in-the-sun, hard seats, mechanical scoreboards, retired legendary numbers, bricks as old as time.

all that being said and appreciated. pre-dbacks days, we got to watch AAA giants baseball and spring training.

now we get to see real baseball, superstars from other states, a world series championship, in the confines of 70-80 deg, no humidity, and plenty of grass. call it what you want, but we can even bring our kids of all ages and swim in a pool in the outfield and catch homerun shots.

like going to the opera wearing your jersey, cap, shorts, flip-flops and toting your favorite glove.

i'll take it 8)

Change locations

Postby opticsp » August 10th, 2008, 9:41 am

Anyone interested in changing the location of this thread and come play catch with me in Brooklyn. It is hot with cool breezes and the park is always nice. I am looking to stretch out my arm and build some arm strength.

When Noah Liberman came down to interview me for his book, "Glove Affairs" I took him to the back yard for a game of catch before taking him to the String Bean restaurant. I test out a lot of supposed "glove guys" this way way.
Cowboy, I'll hide my Riverboat Smith Nokona when you come over.
I tell about anyone who asks: What's The Best Glove? "The one that makes the catch!" 8)

the second meeting of the AZ Glovers was held in the parking lot of the PIAS on broadway and dobson (just east of the old motorola plant). DZ handed me a pro HOH80TF and a pro1000HCB to be relaced.

we played catch in 100 degree heat for about 20 mins while my daughter madison (yes BJ, the one pounding on the mint pro12tc madison haha) sat in her minivan with the AC blasting and veggie tales on the CD player. she's such a good and patient kid

funny how my wife has to threaten to take all my gloves to good will if i don't go and mow the lawn in 100 degree heat but i'll have a game of catch without even being told 8)

we woulda got pix but the only guy available to take the pic was this kinda nutty homeless guy that was cheering us on like a drunk vince skully each time we threw the ball. (DZ being the product of the hood reminded that he could jump on the next bus and take off with my camera)

i know, you can barely tell which one is the relace

(hint, it's the one with the SQUARE knots)
