Stabilizing/repairing dry rot?

I'm working on a glove that was heavily coated in grime but still solid. Not a Holy Grail find but top shelf for my collection at least. Unfortunately once the grime came off there were a couple of small dry rot patches at the finger crotches that dissolved when they got the cleaner/conditioner. Only thing I can think of to repair and stabilize the holes is a little bit of leather putty and glue. But before I do it I thought I'd see what else might work.
