I’m wondering about the pad up in the palm of this youth catchers mitt. There is a red, slick pad in the palm. Was this a standard thing in these mitts, or would it be specially made for a kid?

My sister had a Rawlings softball glove with the same red pad.

just a small thin piece of red leather covering a piece of foam creating a palm pad
