Leather flakes / dust

Last night, I was on the couch watching some baseball, and trying to break in an A2000-INF. When I got off the couch, I noticed that my shirt and the couch were covered in orangey-brown dust / flakes - obviously from the glove. What really puzzled me was that when I looked at the glove, I can't for the life of me figure out where they're coming from.

Anyone else ever come across this before? It's a new glove, and I've already put a light coat of Lexol NF on it, so it's not like it's dry. I've never noticed this happening with any other glove I've broken in - is this normal? If it isn't, does anybody know how can I stop it?

Yeah, that makes sense. On a related note, what is it that give the laces their color - is it some sort of coating or paint?
