I thought this glove was interesting:

Rawlings XFG-16

Note, this is an early Fastback glove- with NO finger slot!

It also looks like sombody put lace through the "air-holes" in the back of the glove- oh well, you can take those out. I like this glove for the unusual design of the Fastback feature. Bargain price, too.

Great idea!! Let us know the rules - for instance, do you want others to add their pics to the thread?

no rules  just post the cool gloves you like and a blurb as to why, nice to know what it sold for and mebbe the ebay item number for those who would like to see the auction (but they will expire in 90 days?)

i would say the criteria is whatever you think is cool (lowest price, highest price, cool design, rarety, and even (ahem) plastic piping if that's your gig)

i would categorize a "modern" glove as post 50's unless someone can come up with a better definition.

let the modgow's fly baby

i usually just put the week ending on Sunday (the starting is assumed from Monday) but since this is a fairly new thread, go ahead and post stuff from prior weeks if you want.

i don't want to be the sole poster here, so feel free to go hog wild and if i miss something, put it up at your own discretion

the perrenial favorites are the wilson's history making a2000 series top-o-the-line (TOTL) models. it seems that the order of price/popularity goes from highest to lowest starting with:
1)XL
2)L
3)XLO
4)XLC
5)XXL

of course the 1st two places are interchangeable and the last three also. there seems to be a resurgence in demand for the XXL in the last year or so (more softball players than before?) i remember picking up XXL's for less than $100 and seeing them now tipping the $200+ scale in recent months.

it used to be that if a glove was a "fastback", had ink, or the dreaded "S" stamp, it would bring the value down dramatically. what amazes me is the most recent BIN's (hair trigger impulse buys?) or a picture of things to come.

NOS A2000 XL with the "S" stamping @ $350 270234986895
ImageImage

what appears to be a lightly used, well cared for A2000 XLC being propelled into the XL price territory of $375 200219753063
(as a side note: of the several XL's and XLC's that i've owned, i find that the less desirable XLC "pro back" actually stays on my hand better and provides a better fit and more control. just my .02 i guess)

and approaching XL price territory was this 9/10 XXL that ended at a seller pleasing $305 150236461606

i know this glove was the topic of an earlier thread. if a picture is worth a thousand words, then a 3 fingered mantle must be worth $900? 280223781636
USA, 3 fingered mantle, horizontal finger slot. if not one-of-a-kind then verrry rare for a non-HOH mod

Ed, I am more of a 1950's and later glove collector, so I enjoy seeing discussions on the modern gloves, especially on "glove of the week".

Great idea on your part.

That Rawlings G900 was very nice.

Docglov, what was Paul Bunyon leather all about?

hey darryl,

i can't really take all the credit for this, i copied the original GOW post and since the mod gloves were not being represented, i thought others would appreciate seeing them too. feel free to contribute, my pix are far from being the gospel

spedrunr -- great idea!!

Paul Bunyan leather, made from Blue Ox hide? I had a Marty Marion G600
but bigger than any I'd seen from Paul Bunyan leather.
Where does this Wilson A2000 01 fit in? Japan AGS made. It's one of my keepers. Really like this one.

Looks like a D1 not 01- Was a stock model a few years back that I dont think sold very well to the public. I like the web on that one though. Nice color on it too.
