Vintage Baseball Glove Forum

Hi,

I'm a fan of Rawlings Sandlot series gloves. I have 2 SL12XTC with a trap eze web and a SL127. Does anyone have more info on these gloves? the type of leather used, or insight to the antiquing process?

Also, are there any plans for a First Baseman's Mitt or a lefty Catchers Mitt for this series?

I tried on a SLXTC tonight for the first time at a sporting goods store and was pleasantly surprised. The glove felt solid (heft without heaviness) and much more well-constructed than the lower-end gloves on the shelves next to them. I was expecting a lower-end, flimsier, quick break-in-glove. However, I think that glove would have taken some time to break in properly, as all good gloves should.

I don't know what type of antiquing process the tannery uses to come up with that roughed, almost sueded leather feel. I wonder how you clean and condition that type of leather??

not bad for the money...can pick them up on ebay for $45-$55...Pro patterns but the guts of the glove are cheap materials....cloth inside finger lining, etc...step below the gold glove series.....look is very nice though

That's the one major dissapointing thing about them, the cloth finger linings, if they could have used the same leather as the palm lining the glove would be perfect... for a mid priced model.

I actually really like the cloth finger linings, it was really soft. I also love the worn appearance of the leather. I just bought a Mizuno Victory Stage for a backup glove on ebay but if I'm not crazy about it when it arrives (and end up selling it), I think I would get the Sandlot 12" infielder for my backup...

They make a pro88 11 1/4" mod trap model, which is amazing.
