Does anyone know the significance of the gold foil upon which the Rawlings patch is placed on certain USA made HOH gloves?

Thanks

I've seen many of the 50th anniversary gold glove patches - they are gold. What I'm referring to is a "regular" Rawlings patch sewn on top of a piece of gold cloth/foil so that all that you see is a 1/4" border of gold around the patch.

Wsa was a couple of years we made our label a regular red label with a gold leather backing, but I don't remember which years. look for the dots on the thumb or a 5 letter code to tell you what year it is.

I bought a PRO-DC in 1989 that has the gold leather under the patch. I think it was 89. I had Mark McGuire sign it in 1990 when he won the gold glove at 1b. The signature faded but the mitt is still my favorite.
