Anyone familiar with Rawlings "pro shop" gloves? How are the model numbers differentiated between store gloves? What is different between the gloves? For example, I beieve that pro shop Pro Preferred gloves have grey welting and no finger gel pads... though I have seen a few Pro Preferred gloves in stores / on-line like that as well... I have a few "pro shop" ones and I also noticed there is no letter S in the model number... Is there a Rawlings rep on this board?

Good questions. I'm also interested in knowing this since I own two Rawlings pro shop gloves. I have a heart of the hide with two different leathers and with gel pads in the finger stalls (kinda weird for a hoh). Also have a hoh pro-lite that feels completely different then the ones made for the general public. Wish rawlings gave customers these options when customizing.

Watch for Rawlings to introdue new USA made custome gloves available through Eastbay. Coming very, very soon. Including US Made Kip leather.

Hi, I spoke with Bob Clevenhagen at Rawlings they've been doing a lot samples and he's been working with Horween to get the leathers just right and said they should be ready just after the first of the year.
They've also taken a lot of photos of the samples for Eastbay to get i their catalogs.

does anyone know how or where you can submit new glove"web designs". I'm a graphic designer witha a degree in Industrial design and for years I have taken apart gloves and rebuilt them often times attempting to make new web designs. Does anyone know how one can submit one of these designs to a rawlings or wilson, etc?

I spoke with a Rawlings rep yesterday on another matter and also had the opportunity to discuss the "custom" glove business as well. He told me all of the "pro-shop" gloves are made off-shore regardless of which "internet store front" they were ordered from. I bought two HOH gloves right before Christmas from HQ4Sports.com. Both were made in the Phillipenes (can't spell). HQ4Sports provided me with a wide range of options to choose from. I chose to make my gloves all black, but I really wanted an index finger pad on the 12.75" HOH H-web. I believe the leather is all good. I like HOH leather better than Pro Preferred because it seems to wear better in the long run. The retail HOH gloves I think have a little more oil finish to them and are slicker compared to the custom gloves. EastBay and BBExpress also let you order custom gloves, but their range of options seems less than what others have available for comparable (and sometimes less) price.

Wanted to clarify the term "pro shop". My understanding, and it could be wrong, is that Rawlings "pro shop" gloves are offered to pro players (and limited other folks who have access to them). These differ from "custom" gloves that anyone can order from various places. These gloves are made in the Phillipines but differ slightly from the store models. My original post was to get more info on these differences. I have a couple and can post pics later on... As an Ebay example, I believe this glove to be a Pro Shop glove:

A couple sites will have your name embroidered onto an existing model for a reasonable price ($169). I liked the PRO12-2JB, so I had my name and a USA flag embroidered. Glove is just OK...not sure if the 'Customs' or Pro Shop HOHs are any better.

Nice glove Mark. I forgot the website but they allow you to personalize your glove with name and flag on the thumb like most major leaguers have.
