Ty and the Babe

I'm reading a book right now called 'Ty and the Babe' by Tom Stanton.
VERY interesting read as it de-demonizes Ty Cobb and tries to dispel a lot of the built-up persona that he's acquired over the years.

The book deals with his relationship with Babe Ruth, both on and off the field and is an incredibly enjoyable read so far!
It recounts their earliest meetings on the field, and eventually gets to their famous golf battle.
I highly recommend it (in as much as I can without having finished it yet). If you have an interest in either player, give it a read!

Yep, you can get it at Amazon!
Great read. Next up on my list is The Last Boy: Mickey Mantle and the End of America's Childhood can't wait!

I'm reading "The Last Boy" now. It is excellent. Makes one think: "How great would he have been if he was 100% healthy?"
The author's first hand experiences woven into the biography are interesting. She did a nice job.

Great to hear!
And yes, I too often wonder just how good Mantle COULD have been had he not stepped on that damn sewer grate.
The possibilities are pretty staggering...

Wow...going through The Last Boy now.
Awesome stuff so far. Mantle...you really couldn't script that story! It's like a template for a Greek tragedy.
So frustrating to think "what if?" with him.
And the first few chapters have lowered my already low opinion of Joe DiMaggio...
