Vintage Baseball Glove Forum

Just curious to know if anyone can enlighten me as to the dating & use of the smaller lemon peel baseballs. These past two weeks have seen 5 lemon peels on ebay (more than I've seen this past year), with 3 of them being between 9 1/4" - 9 3/4" and 2 others - one a little over 6" and the other 7 3/4". The larger balls (9"+) are documented for use from about 1860 on, but I curious about the smaller ones - a 6" circumference ball isn't very big.
Any help?
