This was the best ebay offering to start May. It's an early Victor, Wright & Ditson model CFO catchers mitt with finger guard on the back. A model not often seen, It sold for $167. Probably would have done better but had condition issues with a poor re-lace job sometime in the past that tore out quite a few metal eyelets along the perimeter banding. On the plus side, the mitt is otherwise in very nice condition and a classic style with some factory markings on the face and a stellar VWD cloth patch on the wrist strap.

An early Rawlings base mitt sold for $195. Ships from Paris, probably a story behind that. The mitt displays very well, especially the back with its mint cloth patch. The front looks to be a suede-type leather or maybe it's just roughed up from wear.

A 1930's Lowe & Campbell "Billy Herman" model A17 glove sold for $72. Cool looking style probably made by Wilson. Not a lot of wear and a mint cloth patch but the stamping burned into the finger stalls didn't help this one.

A 1930's Spalding "Rainey Trap" web glove sold for $219 on ebay. This one has seen a lot of use and no markings were clearly visible on the face. The cloth patch was intact but pretty worn.

Was nice to see a Rainey trap as they don't come up too often. Wonder if the glove is black leather or just really dirty - it's hard to tell from the pictures.

A 1930's Reach "Jimmy Dykes" three finger glove sold for a best offer. It was one of RWD's top gloves and a model not often found. There is some wear but is in decent overall condition. Reach used a soft glove leather for the inner liner and the original pearl color is still remarkably intact.

A 1920's sewn web D&M model G38 glove sold for $233. Cream horsehide leather and still nicely intact.

A 1930's Spalding model MO "Babe Ruth" "Home Run Special" glove sold for $899. Very nice overall condition.

A 1940-50s OK Mfg. "Dixie Walker" two finger model glove sold for $74. It looks like a variation of the "dummy" finger/web model except really atrophied. OK had some unique glove designs. This one looks to be in very nice shape, just a little cleaning and it should display well.

An early sewn web Tryon glove sold for a best offer. The glove looked good enough to sell pretty quickly. The leather was in nice shape with an intact black and gold cloth patch on the wrist strap.

A 1960's Spalding "Roger Maris" model 42-217 glove auction was ended early by the seller. I was curious if it would meet its $549 reserve. It is similar to the model Maris used in his career and a real kick-ass glove in close to near mint condition.

A near mint Spalding "Interstate" model catchers mitt sold for $370. Love all the factory stamps on the face!

A NOS mitt, this one a rare circa 1925 D&M model 1008 "Wapiti" Elk model catchers mitt sold for $1434. one can really see the texture difference between the elk and horsehide leather, pretty cool! Looks to have a double stitched face and the trademark D&M back panel. About as good as it gets. This top of the line mitt was from the Roger Bresnahan family collection. .

A 1940's Rawlings "Bernie Berardino" model G440 glove sold for $74. A different model number and style from the "Berardino" model I am used to seeing. This one is in real nice shape. Berardino became an actor after his playing career and starred as Dr. Steve Hardy for 30+ years on the General Hospital TV Soap.

A D&M sewn web glove sold for $349 on ebay. This one has a WWI "War Department" stamp on the thumb. The glove surfaced about four years ago at a Hunt's auction

A circa 1970 Rawlings model XFCB glove with box sold for $448. It's NOS with a hang tag. Pretty nice!

That D&M from the Bresnahan collection is just stunning. Looks like they have a few others coming in their October auction - a D&M and a Ken-Wel.

Here's a nice one from Lelands. An unused Spalding "Babe Herman" model sold for $153. As William would say, Saweet!

Too funny - we were discussing the use of the words"unused" and "mint condition" used to describe that glove as we walked Brimfueld last week. That's just flat out lying in the description

A crescent, sewn web Wright & Ditson glove sold for a best offer. Seems to be in great shape inside and out.

The ebay listing was kind of vague but here are two nice mid 20's gloves bundled together. Both feature tunnel loop webbing and are quality gloves. They were a steal at $70. The first is a rare Varsity brand "Harry Heilman" model. Looks to be made by Wilson. Nice markings on the face.
The second is a sweet looking Wilson "Professional League" model with the long pocket and stubby fingers. The front looks so great but the back shows a lot of wear. The nice, intact Wilson tag kind of redeems all that.

I was the "buyer" of that lot with the Heilman and TEW. It was a BIN - paid right after purchase and got an email from the seller this afternoon cancelling the transaction. He said that I was the second buyer (?) and that he was refunding my money. I initially thought, maybe it was double listed but checking his completed items, nope, it was only listed once. Oh well, easy come, easy go.

The seller of the Heilman and TEW listed them as a quantity of 2 so I "bought" one and the other purchaser got the other. They meant there were 2 gloves but listed it incorrectly - that accounts for the two purchases of the same lot.
