Best of July 2012

I'm just about out the door for a month long trip up to the woods and water of New Hampshire. Before I go I just want to congratulate whomever it was who had the intelligence to make a successful offer on that beautiful D&M Hugh Critz glove that appeared and now is gone. This is unquestionably one of my favorite gloves. $250 is a great price for it. Nice work. I'm sure pictures will follow.

i also thought the Critz model was a great looking glove in super condition. A top of the line model, the G97X boasted two endorsements, one on the thumb and the other on the heel of the glove

A hard to find 1960's Spalding "Rocky Colavito" model 42-203 "Personal Model" glove sold for $250 on ebay. I thought I read that Sandy Koufax used this model glove at one time.

Here is a Wilson 605L that sold for $72 - think it was a bargain at that price. I've handled a few of this model and it's a great glove.

I also liked the Wilson 605 but got distracted and missed the closing time.
Here a two from the same seller:

A seldom seen Vandervoort Hardware glove from Lansing MI. sold for $510 on ebay. The pocket stamping is pretty cool. The glove overall is in good shape

A 1950's Nokona "Carl Erskine" model G57 sold for $202 on ebay. The glove has seen little use. Top of the line model in its day and features the "Ristankor" wrist snugger.

The Reach "Babe Ruth" RB1 "Home Run Special" basemitt sold for $2827 on ebay. The mitt features an interesting laced wrist strap circa 1931. The markings on the mitt are all top notch and the condition is strong. The hang tag included with the mitt is quite valuable in itself. It would be something to reunite the items with the RB1 box Jerry mentioned.

Strong price for the Ruth. As with any collectible, condition is king.
