I believe it is one of the most important gloves in the hobby. I would take it over any workman or fingerless glove I've seen.

I agree. I think that Gehrig's character and legend adds to the meaningfulness of the glove, along with the uniqueness of the zipper back.

In the seller's description he states: "When I sold the first one several people emailed to tell me there were only two other examples known of. Are these numbers three and four?"

Don't take this the wrong way, I am not questioning his integrity, because he himself questions the accuracy of the statement. My question is, do others on the forum believe the glove to be that rare? We always kind of refer to the glove as the "holy grail" but that kind of rarity would surprise me. It seems as if it was a glove that Ken Wel marketed, I am not sure why there would be so few in existence.

This is only the second one in close to 10 yeas of collecting that I have ever seen at auction. The last one I saw I believe went for around 5K. How many say that $7800 is an appropriate price for this glove?

i'm clueless when it

There are certain pieces in our hobby that are almost impossible to overpay for. High end decal and ring bats, spalding trophies, and gloves like this. With the Gehrig you are combining scarcity to the highest degree, legendary name, a team from the most populous and wealthy city in our country, unsurpassed quality, and a unique design. IMO these factors make this a solid investment period.

I think that if this glove was offered in a Robert Edwards Auction, Mastro or Hunts Auction that it would top 10 grand easily.
