To me, the front, piping, 3/4 full web, and stubby fingers have similarities to the Stall & Dean Cobb. I don't think it's a Cobb, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is endorsed.

Wilson was making these sewn web models well into the late 1920's - I'm in agreement that it's just a low level youth model. Check out the 1927 catalog and you'll see a few that are similar

The same day this ended there was an OK sewn web that was listed as 1920's model and sold for 98 bucks. Only problem is that OK didn't start making gloves until 1938. The sewn webs they sold were all youth models from 1938 into the early 40's.

Now that you mention it, this could easily be a Model #663 from 1927. Sold for a buck, fifty while the 648 Hornsby sold for $9.00. Thanks for the info.

A nice "Jimmy Reese" model G140 Ernst brand sold for $150 on ebay. It looks to have sold within 2-3 minutes of posting through a BIN. Very solid 3 finger and a bargain. There are two businesses that come up selling Ernst Sporting Goods. One was in Kenosha, WI. (Ernst Stationery and Sporting Goods) and the other was from Seattle, WA.(Ernst Bros. Hardware and Sporting Goods). Both operated about the same time, circa 1905 and later. Since the ebay seller of the glove was from Nothern Idaho, I would bet on the Seattle Ernst Bros. connection.

I believe it is an old Thos E Wilson full web. Has some wear but it's very rare to see one. I noticed when it was posted on E-bay that it had the really old Wilson button. Not the pretty circle style TEW logo but the Wilson name with the star below it. I have quite a few TEW's and only the oldest ones have that type button logo.

Interesting. I'm hoping for the sake of the buyer who forked out $300 that it is an older glove. I guess it could go either way.
Stunning Jimmie Reese pre-war three. Clearly way under-priced and almost completely under the radar for the seconds it took to sell. Somebody got extremely lucky.

The Spalding one sold for over 4000 in legendary last summer - this one is a better glove too.

Wow! I didn't know that. I know there are some condition issues with the box, and the glove has a hole between the fingers, but I'm very happy to get it at that price.

White Victor Wright Ditson came in at $177. So Rob, does this make 2000 gloves now?

All I know is that I need to have gloves available so that when the glove buddy who won (or eventually tracks down) the Reese three finger contacts me -- PLEASE! -- I will have something to tempt them with. As for the Victor looks like a great model that will fit in nicely. In no way do I think it is a Ruth, but the coloring, size and features remind me of my G41 and should display well.


I've said it in other sections of the forum, but I think we are in a "perfect storm" for picking up gloves that just haven't been available, or were available only at much higher prices. A part of me wants to it dry up, but a bigger part of me wants it to continue on for a while.
