Mickey Mantle MM5

I bought a Mantle MM5 for $8 at my nearby Goodwill. It's my first Mantle glove, and it is in fantastic shape.

Searching on the board, it appears that this glove is from the mid- to late-1960s. Does anyone know how much it is worth? I'll post a photo if I can figure out how to do it.

Thanks,
Robert

I have seen that model glove sell on ebay for $40-$90 depending on condition and for RHT. If I remember right, yours is a "Professional" model and with a picture pocket. It is a good quality glove and a great find for $8. If your glove is near mint it could be worth more. Another thing is the signature. If your glove is a 60's model it may have the newer style Mantle signature stamp and not his old style. The old style stamp is worth more. You could look on http://www.baseballglovecollector.com to compare.

Thanks so much for the response.

The Mantle glove is not a picture pocket, and I guess it would be considered an older autograph.

The glove is exactly like this one: http://www.baseballglovecollector.com/g ... ch.jpg.php

There was no way I was going to pass it up for that price.

This is the model I thought it could be. This MM5 has a traditional cursive signature. The MM5 below that has a more stylized signature especially with the first letter M. The more stylized signature is from a newer glove. Still all in all, finding a Mantle glove at a Goodwill store makes for a good day of picking.

Robert great glove, I seen one like that last weekend and it was missing some leather lacing on the fingers and the pocket was not attached as well, I passed on it but now I wonder if I shouldn't go back and grab it. It did have some intials stamped by Mantels name so I wasn't to excited.

Thanks. I really like the glove.

I've been on a roll with my Goodwill visits. I found a Mantle GJ99 for $2 today. For that price, I couldn't pass it up. I only wish it were left-handed so my son could use it.
