Flea market find - what do I have?

Hello,

New to the forum. I purchased this glove at a flea market over the weekend, and am hoping someone can tell me a little information about it.

It is faintly marked Rawlings on the inside at the heel.

On the back it is stamped with something like "place fingers in this section"

I can't find any other markings.

Thanks very much.

You have a Trapper model first base mitt. I believe that Rawlings came out with that style in the late 1940's and sold a lot of them thru the 1950's. Prior to the Trapper, base mitts were shaped pretty much like oven mitts.

Thanks for the information.

I thought it might be older than 1940's, but maybe it had some accelerated aging along the way.
