Hello, everyone. I've recently acquired a Rawlings G600 "Mr. Shortstop" glove. Can anyone fill me in about "Paul Bunyan Leather" ? What years was it offered, how many different gloves, things like that. This is a neat glove, so any info would be really appreciated. Thanks!

I'd seen this Paul Bunyan leather on another Rawlings Mr. Shortstop many years ago. I think the leather seemed a little tougher but that's about all. Maybe Rawlings was experimenting with some leather and came up with that name. I've not seen it since.

Last year I sold a quality Rawlings G900 w/ Tom Tresh endorsement. It was a superb glove and the leather along with the Pal Bunyan stamp were in excellent condition.
Somewhere along the way, I got the impression that this leather was Rawlings top-of-the-line leather, prior to Heart of the Hide leather.

I've seen a few of these on eBay, but never had the chance to get my hands on one in-person.
Somewhere in the back of my glove-overloaded brain I seem to recall that the Paul Bunyon leather was a percursor to the HOH leather, and thought that I had read that in an issue of The Glove Collector newsletter several years ago.
Ah, to have a searchable CD with every issue of TGC digitized for future reference...

Don't tell me ... Paul Bunyan leather is blue oxhide, right??
OK, y'all knew SOMEBODY was going to say that ...

I noticed that my sunscreen has titanium di-oxhide as one of the base compounds.
Surely, it must be heart of the di-oxhide.

At a show about a month ago I was looking through a Rawlings catalog from the late 1960's - I want to say it was 1967 but I'm not positive. Anyway, the Mr. Shortshop model with Paul Bunyan leather was listed in there - it kind of threw me for a loop because Marion gloves were made many years previous to this. I would have liked to purchase the catalog but the price was ridiculous.
