Vintage Baseball Glove Forum

Hi everyone !

This is my very first post. I was hit by the "glove fever" last month and decided to buy my very first vintage glove on eBay right away.

I'm looking for any kind of information on a wonderful MacGregor Goldsmith endorsed by Ralph Kiner. I've searched the web but couldn't find anything satisfying.

I'm French and there's no other way for me to find what I'm looking for than you guys ! It seems like the Gods of Baseball kind of forgot to visit my country...

By the way, your forum is just great ! It's a real goldmine !

Seems like that Kiner had the funky web to emulate the rolled lace web of the Rawlings Rolfe model. Only not rolled lace but leather wrapped lacing. I'll take a look.
I have a Spalding catalog printed in French, I assume was done for sale in Canada Quebec perhaps. What's the word "gauntlet"?

Actually I bought it on eBay.com, that is eBay US. It was shipped from New York and belonged to a WWII vet. I forgot to mention it's a split finger, it has a full web, and clearly the inscription Pre Formed pocket stamped in the middle, and Ralph Kiner's signature on the little finger.

It's in real good shape, and if my wife let me do, I would sleep with it on my pillow ! But she says I'm too old to do that. How come I grew up so fast ?!

I know what you mean, Moonlight! I still keep a few gloves on the headboard of the bed, and every night I slip one on my hand and pound my fist into it. Occasionally, I take a ball and throw it up into the air and catch it ... there are one or two baseball sized dents in the ceiling from when I may have thrown it too hard

That's right Moonlight. This forum definitely helps one feel very sane even though there are dents in the ceiling and gloves hidden under the mattress.

As for growing up? don't even get started on that one.

One other thing about my MacGregor Goldsmith endorsed by Ralph Kiner. Later inspection proved it was a G113 model. I already mentioned it was a split finger with a full web. I see some of you guys are walking baseball gloves encyclopaedias, so do you have any idea when that model was made ? I'd say in the early 1950s, but I don't know for sure. Can anyone help?

I'm sure that book can be bought from the shop around the corner in the US, but believe me, the only thing most of my fellow countrymen know about baseball is that with a baseball bat you crash your loud neighbour's head with some style !

So could you tell me what that page 51 says ? Please ?
