This is advertised as a 50's child model Stan Musial with the box, anybody have any ideas what it should bring?

Looks like a PML model, which was a low-end child-sized glove. Kind of hard to gauge a condition on the glove from the pics, so I'll assume "excellent" condition. The book value of a youth-sized PML glove in that condition is only $30.

The box looks to be a beauty! You don't see too many with that kind of glossy color or lack of damage. The price guide tells us to multiply the glove value by 6X for a "post war" Hall-of-Famer photo box. That puts us at a book value of $180.

And that is about what I would guess based on similar sales observed on eBay (which can flucuate notoriously, depending on who sees the auction and how badly they wat it!)

You're probably looking at something in the $150 to $200 ballpark.

The pictures of Musial on the box are numbered & considered baseball cards. 1955 Rawlings Stan Musial set. The last book I have has the set at $1200 nrmt $600 ex & $350 VG. So I'd guess you may have some competition with the card collectors.

Wow! I'm not much of a card guy and had forgotten about the photos on that box being considered as "baseball cards"!

Definitely an angle to look into!

With respect to the baseball cards, how does a box fit into the standard grading of cards? Is the condition based on the whole, un-cut box, or on cards cut apart from the box?

Yes, I would agree with that higher amount. For comparison sake (not sure if this is the same box):

Hopefully I'll let you know what it brought tonight, when my father gets home from the public auction that this is being sold.

The glove and box brought a tidy little sum of $1150.00, and the man was very happy with his purchase.
