In case you missed the fireworks a little while ago on eBay, check this out...

I knew it would go high, but this is more than I thought.

And on that note, since the seller doesn't appear to be a "glove person," I hope she didn't bump her head when she fainted!

Maris Spalding Number 42-201???

Fellow glovers, just ducked into the 1960s Spalding catalog section in my new 2007 Glove Source book and I find the Roger Maris personal model at 42-211 in 1969 and 42-217 before that (from 1966) so here we have the 42-201, the famous hard-to-find 42-201 (only shows in catallogs for 1969) that should have the name Jim Bunning on it. What's Maris' name doing on the 42-201, very top line glove??? Was this glove intended for or given to Roger. Hence the high flying price maybe.
Just speculation!

I started looking at later years instead of the earlier and didn't work back far enough and RIGHT you are.
Wonder why they dropped Maris for Bunning on the 201? His star must have been waning. And the model doesn't show for 1966 and 1967 only to come back in 1968.
Any idea on the recent EBay sale surge of this model?
Good going!
