I was recently at an antique mall and noticed a nice Rawlings TG78 Ken Boyer Trapeze Model for a pretty cheap price. I am really not familar with the newer stuff and was just curious if I may have passed up a good buy or not. Does anyone know how much this glove might be worth?? Thanks in advance....-Josh

The TG78 Boyer models were sold from 1960 to 1963. That makes them just slightly "younger" than I am old, so I guess that qualifies as the "newer" stuff! :D

These were not top-of-the-line gloves, selling for less than half of the pro-model trappers, with a corresponding drop in quality and materials. During those years, the TG12 sold for around $40, while the TG78 retailed for about 13 bucks.

The price guide lists Boyer-endorsed gloves as "very common", meaning they are in plentiful supply. Book prices for Boyer gloves "VG", "EX" and "NM" conditions are $30/$45/$90.

When you factor in the demand for these gloves, the relative size and quality level, the appeal of a popular Yankee endorser and the fact that it is a Trap-Eze glove- though not the best of the Trap-Eze models- my best guess would be that you could pick up one of these from eBay for about 1/2 to 2/3 the book (ie: retail) value.

Thanks Bretman

Thank you Bretman for all the great information. I now don't feel as bad for passing up the glove for the price it was at. Like I said I am no where near as familar with the "newer" stuff as I am with things from the early 1900's...I notice there are quite a few people interested in the "newer" stuff here on the forum so I have been trying learn more and to pay attention when I see these types of gloves. Thanks again for all your help I appreciate it! -Josh
