Several years ago at a signing show here, Randy Ferguson, grabbed me and said, "Whitey Ford" wants to see you. Ford, who was there signing, had been gabbing with Randy about one of his old gamer gloves.
Never one to turn down a celebrity interview, it turned out that Ford asked me about what his game-used glove would be worth. "One problem," he says. I drilled a hole in it to make it in to a lamp holder." He said that Yogi Berra had suggested that.
I told him that by doing that hadn't helped his cause much. But it was stil a gamer.
Speaking of which just yesterday while visiting an antique shop, there it was a lamp using a vintage glove for a base "design." This one fortunately, was an import Newport glove.
