Vintage Baseball Glove Forum

Several years ago a discussion on the forum revolved around which Willie Mays glove was the one to have. At the top of a few peoples list was the Macgregor G105 Willie Mays Personal Model that featured the reverse wrist strap. I'm curious as to whether anyone has actually seen this model or better yet can post a photo. While it's existance has been suggested in Macgregor ads from as early as 54 or 55, catalogs indicate that the G105 was produced from 1956-57 only. 1956 coincides with the introduction of the GCR Robin Roberts and GC1 Red Scheondienst models which both came with conventional wrist straps and share some of the same design characteristics as the Mays glove. While I can't confirm the reverse strap had been discontinued by 1956, comparing the various models in the 54-56 Macgregor catalogs seems to indicate it may have been. Is the reverse wrist strap G105 Mays a reality or a myth? Would love to know. Anyone?
