Vintage Baseball Glove Forum

I just found an interesting glove at a shop in Toronto today.

It is a Rawlings PRO-SS115P.

The glove is an open back, basket web, 11.5" model with triple welting on the fingers (yes triple)! Glove is all black with white welting.

The glove feels and looks like a HOH, but instead of the bull logo, it has a "Turn 2" logo with the image of a player (Jeter?)

The thumb has five (5) dots under the embroidered Rawlings script.

Has anyone seen this glove before?

Any idea of manufacture date?

Does the "P" in the model number indicate that the glove was a pro-issue model?

I read on-line that Jeter has a charitable foundation called "Turn 2".

Any info would be appreciated.

I have seen this glove in an Eastbay catalog about 2 years ago, and it was priced as an HOH. It also listed it as being a HOH. I also know for certain that Derek Jeter has used a small backet-webbed, triple welted, Black Rawlings HOH for most of his career.

I think that the "Turn 2" logo, which was also in the Eastbay issue, is connected to the charity.

I have not personally handled the glove, but I am pretty sure it high end,

stores and have not found one decent glove anywhere.

Hanlan's point is where the Maple Leaf's Baseball team

played for over 75 years and is where Babe Ruth hit

his first professional home run. Still no luck in vintage

gloves or baseball equipment anywhere. any hints on

to double switch: I was in Toronto on business, and just decided to stop into a sporting goods store that I drove past.

I found this "Turn 2" glove and decided to buy it.

I live in the Boston area, so I am not really familiar with any good places to find gloves in Ontario.

Not a pro issue. Made in 1999 or 2000 (5 dots). This was the less popular mass produced model of what we know today as the PRODJ2. Some of the '06/7/8 models are having the Turn 2 logo put back in the pocket. Just a stock HOH from the late '90s is all that one really is. Now to go a little deeper, that glove was made in the Revolution Series in all navy blue with the same exact pattern and triple welting. That one is worth more.
