Another One Bites the Dust

In 1892, A.G. Spalding began acquiring smaller companies to expand his business influence. Smaller sporting goods companies such as Wright & Ditson, Peck & Snyder came under Spalding control as did uniform maker Geo. Barnard & Co.

Below is an ad from a 1896 Spalding Guide.

Here is the same building amazingly unchanged circa 1990.

The building was remodeled into residential apartments in the 1990's.

The whole area in Atlantic Yards was eventually slated for redevelopment. The barriers and scaffolding are in place, preparing the building for demolition.
