Glove Projects for Fun

A lot of collectors try to collect players from a certain team, HOF players, etc. Have you ever thought about putting together a collection that is a little bit different? I always thought it would be fun to put together a collection of endorsed gloves of the players name in the Dave Frisberg song "Van Lingle Mungo"

What are some of your "off the beatin' track" ideas for a collection?

Some neat glove shots in the video, Brett and some real toughies on that list! I don't think of it as subset, but for whatever reason I seem to gravitate to endorsed models of players with tragically shortened careers (like Hack Wilson or Pete Reiser) and great or really good players who were stuck on bad teams (Walter Johnson, Goose Goslin, Harlond Clift) Funny how either the Browns or the Senators always factor in on that list. Poor Harlond was stuck with the Browns for 10 long years only to be traded the year before they made it to their only World Series. As in traded to the Senators. Then again, you could put together a sizable group just collecting Reiser gloves. Can anyone think of another player whose endorsement appears on more different brands than his?
I wasted a couple of hours last night looking for good glove pictures and guess which one was the best of them? Van Lingle Mungo!

I know I've seen this photo somewhere before. Maybe in TGC?

In the video, the first mention of Hal Trosky is actually a photo of Bob Feller.

Great video and this is a topic you can get your dentures into. Often wondered if they didn't get Van's name wrong. Wasn't it Van Lingle Fungo?
I've seen about six or eight of the mentioned players' endorsed gloves. Right Scott, how'd you miss the ubiquitous Bob Feller's face?
Song reminds me, which team in the 1940s and '50s operated a cat house? Cardinals, "The Big Cat," "The Cat," "The Kitten."
I like the mellow jazz background and the way the names roll in the lyrics. So would Mezz Mezzrow (sp) and Peanuts Hucko. look 'em up.

Are there any player endorsed two-finger gloves out there? Could be an interesting and perhaps, very small collection.

The only one that comes to mind is Wilson's Phil Cavaretta. You'd have a lot more to choose from if you went with the 3-fingers.

There is a 2 finger endoresed glove by Terry Moore (Wilson I believe) and if you go with the OK MFG ones you can add Dixie Walker, Hal Newhouser, Bobby Doerr, Harry Walker, Joe DiMaggio and Stan Musial
